Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae's
Role in Bighorn Pneumonia Outbreaks

This series of five videos feature a talk Washington State University veterinarian and researcher Dr. Thomas E. Besser presented at the January 30, 2013 Wild Sheep Working Group (WSWG) meeting. According to the Washington State University profile page for Dr. Besser, he focuses on “the epidemiology of zoonotic bacterial agents in their domestic animal reservoirs.” These videos were posted on Youtube by the Wild Sheep Foundation. In them, Dr. Besser discusses the Mycoplasma Ovipneumoniae bacterium, which is an important part of the bighorn-domestic sheep disease issue. However, that bacterium was hardly mentioned in my thesis and is not prominently featured on this site, so Dr. Besser’s talk provides useful supplementary information.

Together, these videos take about 1.5 hours to watch, so be sure to have plenty of popcorn (or whatever you’d eat for a microbiology lecture) on hand.
